Our Process
Personal Design Meeting
Together we will craft your estate plan to match your goals and objectives from your Peace of Mind Planning Session. You will choose key decision makers regarding finances and health care, determine to whom and how your assets will be distributed, and appoint guardians for any minor children.
Your Peace of Mind Planning Session
At our 45-minute Zoom, we will get to know each other. I will listen as you share your goals, concerns, and objectives and I will answer all your questions. I will map out your options including a will v. trust so that you can make an educated choice on what is best for you. I will review our unique, flat fee pricing so you know exactly how much your investment will be and how long it will take. Then if we’d like to work together, we’ll discuss what comes next. If not, that’s ok too!
Document Review Period
This is your opportunity to review, at your own pace, the drafts prepared after your personal design meeting. You may make any comments or ask questions. We’ll be here to assist you every step of the way.
Signing the Estate Plan
You’ll have several options: choose a signing ceremony in your home, at our offices, or at another available location. The result will be the same- your plan will be official and the ‘peace of mind’ commences! Your easy to store Estate Planning Binder will follow shortly thereafter.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Estate Planning?
Estate Planning is simply the process of getting legal documents in place so that your chosen people are appointed to take care of you, your children, and your assets and finances in the event of your incapacity or death. An ‘estate plan’ is just a group of binding documents that YOU design and that will accomplish your plan, your way.
If you think you do not have an estate plan…you already do. It’s just that your state has written it for you and the state’s wishes will be in control. All states have a default plan for you/your family/your assets. That is the plan you have now- all decided for you. So congratulations on your first-step toward ‘opting out’ of your state’s plan for you and putting your own wishes in place!
What Kind of Information Do You Need from Me and How Do I Get Started?
Let me first reassure you with what we do NOT need: we do NOT need social security numbers, bank statements, or tax returns. We DO need to know about the assets you own (like your house, retirement account, life insurance, etc.), their approximate value, and how they are titled (jointly, individually, etc.). Otherwise, we simply need to hear from you about your personal preferences, such as:
Who would you want raising your minor children if something happened to you and your spouse/partner?
Who would you want to be in charge of your children’s money until they are old enough to manage it themselves?
Who would you want making medical and financial decisions for you in the event of your incapacity?
Don’t worry if you do not have the answers to these questions right away! You’ll have plenty of time to think things over throughout the process. When you are ready to move forward, whether at your Peace of Mind Planning Session, or later, just let us know. We will send you an engagement letter and invoice via our secure, online case manager and payment provider. Once these house-keeping items are taken care of, you will schedule your estate plan Design Meeting.
What Can I Expect from My Peace of Mind Planning Session?
A personalized, education-based session with Attorney Stacey who listens to understand your needs, goals, and wishes. Stacey is sensitive to the personal nature of this process, cultural or complex family dynamics and challenges, and to speaking plainly and not in ‘legalese’. We will walk you through your options, what to expect from the process, and our ‘no surprises’ flat-fee pricing options. You will be able to ask any questions you may have to make an informed decision. You will know exactly what you are getting and what the investment will be.
Can We Have a Quick Call before Booking the Peace of Mind Planning Session?
Yes, of course! While we do not discuss fees outside of the Peace of Mind Planning Session, Stacey would be happy to answer any general, basic questions you may have. You can book a call by clicking HERE.
How Much Will It Cost?
It depends! We understand that cost is an important factor in choosing an attorney and estate planning is a significant investment for many. It is our goal to be as transparent and fair as possible. How much it will cost you, depends. Estate Planning is not one-size-fits-all so it is hard for us to give you a quote without knowing more about you and your situation.
At your Peace of Mind Planning Session (PMPS), we will counsel you on all your options and discuss our fees and the process in detail and you will have the chance to ask questions. Any fees quoted will be flat-fees so there are no surprises on your investment. Please note, we do not discuss our fees outside of the PMPS.
Finally, we will only recommend planning with us if the amount you would save by doing an estate plan is greater than our fee.
How Long Will This Take?
Our process is designed to have your documents signed 4-6 weeks after your Peace of Mind Planning Session. It depends in part on your schedule and how long it takes for you to review your draft documents.
Can I Sign My Documents Electronically?
No. Wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents need to be signed with very specific formalities or they will not be considered legally valid. That means signing in person, in front of 2 witnesses and a notary (which we can provide). The witnesses are there to confirm you are lucid and not under duress, and the notary is there to confirm you are who you say you are. Any changes you make to your documents in the future will need to be executed with the same legal formalities.
Isn’t Estate Planning Just for the Rich?
No way! This is one of the biggest misconceptions out there. Estate planning isn’t about how much money you have—it’s about making sure what YOU DO HAVE goes to the right people, in the right way, at the right time. Equally important, it’s about protecting your loved ones from unnecessary stress, confusion, and even family conflict and damaged relationships during an already difficult time.
Think about it: If something happens to you, who’s making decisions about your health and finances? Who’s ensuring your kids, home, and assets are handled the way you want? Without a plan in place, the state decides for you—and that rarely works out the way you’d hope.
And if you see yourself as a cycle-breaker, this is your chance to set a new standard for your family’s future. Estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy—it’s for anyone who wants to take control, protect their loved ones, and create a lasting legacy.
Why Might I Need A Living Trust?
Most clients have two options for their estate plan: a will or a living trust. Most of my clients choose a living trust—and for good reason. Unlike a will, a living trust keeps your assets out of probate, saving your family a lot of time, money, potential disputes and challenges, and unnecessary stress. A will also becomes public record once it goes through probate, so anyone can access your private details. A trust, on the other hand remains private both during your lifetime and after passing. The trust also ensures someone you trust can manage your affairs if you become incapacitated.
Many people are shocked to learn that wills don’t avoid probate—they guarantee it! Just google the most publicized/complicated probate cases of all time whether the famous person died without any will, or died with a will, but no trust.
I break down the differences between a will and trust during our Peace of Mind Planning Session, and by the end, the most common question I hear is, “Why would anyone choose a will?” While there are some circumstances where it makes sense, for most, a living trust is the clear winner.
